Marks the first 15-minute range on SPY/QQQ/IWM and buys 0DTE calls on the breakout, puts on the breakdown. Flat by the close.
The coil broke UP on Tuesday, not down β and nobody bought it. SPY 769.66, first close above its 8-, 21- and 50-EMA since Oct 21. QQQ 721.25, third straight higher high. IWM 280.18, first close above its 21-EMA in 42 sessions. And the volume: SPY 28.6M = 0.72x, QQQ 30.9M = 0.85x, IWM 18.9M = 0.75x. All three closed in the top quarter of their day range on the lightest tape of the whole sequence. So I do not fade it β three higher lows in a row in all three names is a trend, not a trap β and I absolutely do not chase it. I put the volume gate on the up side and I keep the failure-back-inside trade at half price, because a breakout into stale supply on 0.72x is the exact shape that eats you. Bias: neutral-to-long, conviction: zero, gates: tighter than usual. THE MAP. SPY ran 758.68 β 761.63 β 765.21 on the lows and 763.47 β 767.73 β 771.14 on the highs; that is a clean four-day uptrend into a shelf. The shelf is 772.29 (Oct 20), 773.25 (Oct 16), 774.44 (Oct 21) β call it 772.3β774.4, and it is the top of the ten-day range. Through it: 776.35, then 779.42, then the 781.62 peak. Below: 768.61 (21-EMA, closed 1.05 above it β that is a poke, not a hold), 765.21 (Tuesday low), 761.63, 758.68. QQQ is the whole story and it is the weakest chart on the board: 721.25 with a five-layer lid at 724.55 / 724.96 (50-EMA) / 725.53 (21-EMA) / 725.96 / 727.95. Ten sessions under the 21-EMA. Above 727.95 there is nothing until 729.43 and then air to 740.53 β that is where a squeeze pays. Below 717.70 (8-EMA) it's 713.59, 709.30, 705.58, and the 700β701.16 base with five touches and twelve sessions of trapped longs sitting on it. IWM is the honest tell and its tell is light volume: five higher lows off 269.88, but -8% from its Aug 14 high of 305.18 while SPY is 1.5% off its peak. Lid is 281.93, then the 50-EMA at 282.96 and 283.56 β that pair is real resistance. Over 284.24 small caps have genuinely turned; under 278.07 the whole thing was noise. TRIGGERS, all off the 9:30β9:45 opening range, all volume-gated. The 21-EMA is my referee: I do not take a long with SPY under 768.61 or a short with SPY above it, and the same for QQQ at 717.70 and IWM at 278.07. SPY up: OR low must hold 768.61, then a break of the OR high with 47.6M pace β calls, half 772.29, flat 774.44, runner 776.35 only on >1.5x β nothing carried through 776.35. SPY down: break OR low AND 768.61 β puts, half 765.21, flat 763.47, runner 761.63 on >1.2x, and I want 758.68 only if QQQ is under 713.59 at the same time. QQQ up: I skip the first break of 722.87 β it's two dollars under supply. I want a 5-minute hold above 725.53, then calls, half 727.95, flat 729.43, runner 740.53 only on >1.5x; QQQ is the largest leg up if the lid truly goes, because ten sessions of shorts are stacked under it. QQQ down: under 717.70 β puts half size, half 713.59, flat 709.30, full only under 705.58 with 43.8M+, then 701.16 and I do not press through 700.00. IWM up: over 280.40 with the OR low holding 278.07 β calls, half 281.93, flat 283.56 (the 50-EMA is right there β take the money at the lid), runner 284.24 only on >1.5x. IWM down: only under 278.07 AND the OR low β puts, half 276.80, flat 276.00, runner 273.35 on volume, nothing under a held 269.88. VOLUME GATES, day-equivalent, 20-day averages. 1.0x = SPY 39.6M / QQQ 36.5M / IWM 25.0M. 1.2x = 47.6 / 43.8 / 30.0. 1.5x = 59.4 / 54.8 / 37.5. By 11:00 I want ~40% printed. Relative gate on top and it is the one that matters: a break bar must run β₯1.5x the average 15-minute bar of the day so far, because 1.2x of a 0.8x day is nothing. Opening range wider than the 5-day average daily range (SPY 5.88, QQQ 9.77, IWM 2.87) β half size; wider than 1 ATR14 (7.28 / 12.55 / 3.57) β I stand down, there's no room left to target. CROSS-READS. QQQ is the confirmation leg, full stop. QQQ pinned under 725.53 while SPY holds 768.61 β nothing on the board is confirmed, stand down, let it chop. QQQ through 727.95 on 43.8M+ β SPY calls over 771.14 and IWM calls over 280.40, both full, puts off the board entirely, QQQ the biggest leg. QQQ rejects 724.55β727.95 and loses 717.70 β SPY's 21-EMA reclaim was a 0.72x fake; SPY puts under 768.61, IWM puts under 278.07, QQQ the largest leg down, and that's the highest-probability trade on the sheet. IWM over 280.40 while QQQ holds 717.70 β rotation, IWM full, everything else half or nothing. If Wednesday gaps away from 769.66 I do not chase it β I let the 9:30β9:45 range build and trade the break of that range only. A gap into the 772β774 shelf is the worst entry of the day. Range is 9:30β9:45. Mark it, then wait. Invalidation is the opposite side of that range, live β fail back inside and I'm out, one re-entry per setup, max. Everything flat by the bell; never a 0DTE overnight. The range is set. We wait for the break β we don't predict it.
