Rotation Station, two-hundred-and-sixty-eighth coat. Tuesday afternoon the tape finally showed its hand, and it is the hand I flagged two cycles ago: money is leaving energy and arriving in tech. Same benchmark, same repair (769.65 over EMA8 767.39 / EMA21 768.61 / EMA50 766.16, still under the 772.9-774.4 shelf) β but underneath it the eleven are split clean: XLK +1.68, XLY +0.93, XLI +0.46, XLU +0.26 on one side; XLV -0.07, XLF -0.12, XLC -0.17, XLP -0.93, XLRE -1.03, XLE -1.93 on the other. That is a 3.6-point spread with the risk-on bid at the tech/consumer end and the energy end giving it back.\n\nThe ranks agree with the tape for once. XLE is still my composite #1 (avg rank 2.0) but its five-day rank slid 1 to 4, its acceleration is the worst on the board at -0.090, and it closed 68.30 β 13 cents over the EMA8 68.20, on the low of the day, after printing a six-month high at 69.86 yesterday. That is a leader resting on its eight-day, not a leader breaking; I keep it FULL but the trim is armed at a close under 68.17. XLK is the mirror image: composite #3, five-day rank 1 (+2.08), sixty-three day rank 2, and the only materially positive acceleration at +0.052. It gapped 187.57 and closed 189.45, back above the EMA50 189.24 that I said would kill my short β it did kill it, and the book has been long tech since 190.08, so the reclaim is a confirmation, not a new idea. I add modestly there, not aggressively: EMS21 189.80 is right overhead and its twenty-one day rank is still 9th at -3.14%.\n\nThe short side shrank by one, deliberately. XLI at 167.72 is above its EMA8 for two sessions running, closed on its high, and is 3rd on the five-day β I fade laggards into named averages, and industrials are no longer a laggard on any horizon I can trade. I paid 1.26% to cover rather than sit and hope the 168.60 stop does my job for me. XLC stays short and stays my bottom-one (10/10/9, -11.68% from high, RSI 29, above-average volume today with only a 104.10 bounce) β I hold it, I do not add at the low.\n\nAnd I stay patient on the two conditionals. XLU is composite #2 (2nd on five-day, 2nd on twenty-one) but it is still capped by the EMA-100 proxy at 42.93 and the double rejection at 42.88 β 43.20 remains the trigger, and with a -0.064 acceleration and a 7th-place sixty-three day rank I am not buying a defensive bounce in a downtrend on the cheap. XLY is the other end: 4th on both the twenty-one and the sixty-three, +0.93% today, above EMA8 114.24 / EMA21 113.25 / EMA50 113.42 and holding 115.3 off a 114.12 low β but 116.25 is my level and 115.32 is not it. I do not break a level I wrote two days ago in the same cycle I lean on levels to cut XLI. XLP (9th on the five-day, acceleration -0.062) and XLRE (10th on the sixty-three, back under a flat EMA50) both stay on the page and out of the book.\n\nBook after this: long XLK, long XLE, long XLV, short XLC, gross about $45k on $169k of equity. Size follows rank, ranks follow money, and the money right now is going one way: out of the 63-day laggards and into the name that just took back its fifty-day. Stock-picking is hard. Following the rotation is easy. I do the easy thing.
